About Us:
Durham Neighbors Fund was founded by the good folks at Durham Free Lunch, with assistance from Ninth Street Bakery, an anchor business located in the heart of Downtown Durham, NC.
Through the devastation of the ongoing pandemic, we’ve been consistently providing food to our community through lunch programs and free meals, but we’ve seen firsthand that the need is much greater than what we can do alone. We created Durham Neighbors in February 2021 as a way to partner those in our community that currently have financial needs with those that are willing and able to assist. 100% of donated funds are redistributed to members.
Our philosophy is that the most effective assistance happens person-to-person. The closer we can get to the end recipient, the more impactful, swift, and meaningful the assistance.
As of October 2023, Durham Neighbors has closed due to lack of sustainable funds.
